Veteran’s Day Salute

Please join us as we pay special tribute to the veterans of our armed forces through concert band music. Radio personality Ross Mitchell will serve as emcee for the concert. One special selection will be the performance of Elegy for a Young American, written in 1964 by Ron LoPresti, and dedicated to the memory of President John F. Kennedy. A special visual presentation will be played during our performance, a pictorial montage of the life and political career of John F. Kennedy, which includes the 12-second Zapruder video of the assassination of President John F. Kennedy, which was documented in the Warren Commission’s final report.

Hollywood composer Ira Hearshen wrote a complete symphony for wind band based on 4 different marches by John Philip Sousa. We will perform the 2nd movement of that symphony, based on The Thunderer. We will also perform An American Elegy by prolific band composer Frank Ticheli, commemorating the 20 th anniversary of the Colombine tragedy.
