About The Event

Our holiday program will include even more variety than previous seasons, along with featuring two auxiliary groups within the Reno Wind Symphony.

The RWS Clarinet Quartet will play the Overture and Waltz of the Flowers from the Nutcracker Suite by famous Russian composer Pioyr Ilyich Tchaikovsky. The RWS Trombone Troupe will play two Christmas carols arranged for trombones, including Ding Dong Merrily on High and Feliz Navidad by Jose Feliciano.

One of the featured selections by the Reno Wind Symphony will be the Concert Suite from the Polar Express. Based on the children’s book, the story teaches friendship, bravery, and the spirit of Christmas in an amazing magical adventure to the North Pole on Christmas Eve aboard The Polar Express.

Every year, in addition to the usual holiday festivities, many of us look forward to the cartoons and claymations that grace the television schedule. Rudolph, Frosty the Snowman, Kris Kringle, Here Comes Santa Claus, The Chipmunks, The Grinch and many others are not only enjoyable for their storylines and artwork but feature many fantastic songs. Christmas Toons is an arrangement of Christmas favorites reimagined by Julie Giroux.

Composed in 1950, A Christmas Festival is a concert overture built up on traditional Christmas songs. Originally recorded by the Boston Pops, it is the Christmas medley that sets the standard for all others.

Enjoy these selections and more, for free with your reserved ticket thanks to a generous donation from Hawley Maclean of Maclean Financial Group and Airport Gardens.
